Serve Program

Emmaus Christian School operates efficiently and effectively because of the significant investment of our volunteers who serve in a wide-range of areas at the school. Volunteers are vital to our school's health. Without their efforts, costs would increase and undoubtedly the overall program would suffer. In order to encourage being involved the school board has implemented a Serve Program.

The purpose of the program is to get each family serving in their school which in turn will help keep tuition costs as low as possible. The greater value of the program will be to get all families involved in their child's education. It has been clear in the history of our school, and other Christian schools, that when parents are involved children thrive and families develop a stronger sense of ownership for their school.

Each two parent family will be requested to contribute a minimum of 15 volunteer hours per semester (total, not on an individual basis). Single parent families will be requested to contribute 7.5 hours per semester. Families may choose to buy their way out of the contribution requirement by simply paying $150 per semester ($75 for single parent families).

There are many opportunities for service during school hours and after hours. Opportunities for service range from the classroom, to athletics, PTF events, board committees, etc. At the beginning of the school year a sign-up will be available outlining the many volunteer opportunities for families. It is our intention to make the logistics or tracking volunteer hours VERY simple.

The concept of a Serve Program is not a new one. Many local private schools have similar programs. We truly believe that having everyone's participation will lead to an even greater degree of "pride of ownership" for all ECS families.

Serving with you,

ECS Board
