Thank You For Your Support
Our Emmaus Golf Marathon has come and gone, and it couldn’t have been a more blessed day and experience. Though temperatures rose in to the 80’s, our golfers put on their best outfits, lathered up their sunblock, and donned their best sun hats. But they didn’t do it because of their love of the sport. Rather, they did it because they love Emmaus.
16 Participants arrived at the golf course for one reason and one reason only. To help to close the financial gap that Emmaus faces for the 2015/2016 school year. As of today, these individuals have raised $25,645 of the $30,000 goal. It was a lot of fun to see parents and staff come together to golf 100 holes in four hours.
This year also brought our first student team of sixth graders; Isaac Ramburg and Benjamin Bradshaw, who combined raised $2,100.00 to help support their school. A mother and son team of Lindsey and Ethan Porter worked together to raise funds as well. We also had students out supporting their parents by collecting golf balls, and caddying for their parents while they played. We saw 7th grader Ariel Bernhardt, 5th graders Bekah Bernhardt and Peyton Gilliland and 1st grader Madelyn Porter out showing support as well.
All of this could not have been possible without the many hands and feet who helped to make this day the success it was. A Hospitality team was assembled to ensure that those who were golfing were more than taken care of. Hosted for the second year by Meriwether Golf Course Club and Resort, volunteers such as Alumni JoAnn Armstrong, middle school parent Jayne Weinmann, and elementary parent Soozie McDonald brought coolers with ice and canopies for rest and refuel stations on the course. They were filled with delicious fruits provided by Whole Foods, Pre-Packaged snacks and protein provided by our local Fred Meyer and Safeway, and drinks provided by Albertson’s. Also, a special thanks to Jayne and middle school parent Melissa Torgerson for the custom goodie bags for each participant. A huge blessing!
We need to also thank our Player Captain and organizer Yvonne Bradshaw for all of her hard work at getting people signed up, and moving forward. All of this would not have been possible without her. And big congratulations to Emmaus dad Dale Bernhardt who not only had the most amount raised, but also brought in the most sponsors. We are so grateful for everyone who joined us on the golf course and made this event possible.
